Thoughtful Gifts For Your Girlfriend: The First Anniversary
If there is a first anniversary coming up for you and your girlfriend, you know she will be expecting something awesome from you and not just a card and some chocolate. You should get a little bit more creative than that for this special anniversary. By this point, you should know (I would hope) what she likes and what will really “wow” her.
Maybe she is not expecting too much from you this anniversary and you may have decided to keep things simple. This is still a great chance to knock her off her feet an amazing gift she would not expect from you even if it is simple. To make this anniversary especially memorable for the both of you, here are some ideas to help get you started.
Vacation
What better way to treat yourself and your girlfriend than to get away from it all and take a relaxing or exciting (or a good combination of both) vacation together. Plan it together or make it a complete surprise for her as long as there are no conflicts and you know she will love the place you two to travel to together.
Doesn’t like snow and doesn’t know how to ski? Forget that skiing trip to Colorado you had thought of earlier. Also make sure it isn’t a vacation that will break the bank. A short camping trip or traveling to a nearby small town with a Bed & Breakfast is just enough to get away and spend some time together.
Artwork
A piece of artwork can make just the right statement that you want to say to your girlfriend with a quote, a memory, or a personal meaning between the two of such as something you two always say to each other something memorable that one of once said. What to buy for first anniversary can make the right impact with jewelry or art.
Consider something such as painting or another similar item that she can hang up at her home or one you share together. Something that can be placed out in the open is a very expressive way to remind each other of your close relationship and share it with others.
It does not have to be extremely personal with words either. Think of a piece of artwork that she loves or one that you saw together at a museum. Hanging a copy of a famous painting in the home is just as a personal way of expressing your feelings with each other as hanging a canvas painting with your two names on it.
A classic gift is to give your loved one a piece of jewelry. Whether it is a favorite gemstone of hers, her birthstone, or maybe an engagement ring! The look on her face will be priceless when she sees what you have bought her to celebrate your first year together.
Technology
Maybe your girlfriend does not want anything remotely close to a card, chocolate, artwork, or jewelry. Maybe technology is more of her thing whether it is the newest gizmo or something from her favorite sci-fi movie or cartoon. If you follow the traditional anniversary gifts for each year, there are plenty of technology or geek options to use for as ideas instead.
Consider the latest smartphone or music player and ask to have the back of it engraved with a special message for her to read. Add a vacation in with the mix and visit a science, technology, or film museum.
Look into gadgets that help you include a personal message such as a voice recording or video from a favorite memory together like a concert or a song. If she likes to cook there are plenty of kitchen aids from serving beverages such as wine, coffee, and tea, to preparing a favorite meal or dessert.
Homemade Gifts
Nothing else takes time and care like a homemade gift for your girlfriend. It’s very easy to go out and just buy something at the last minute but if you take the time and effort and make something that could have been easily purchased at the store, it will stand out and show that you put in a lot of effort. It does not have to be completely 100% handmade by you either. There are places such as ceramic shops or painting stores that can supply you with what you need to make something. A fun idea is to purchase a mug and to paint it yourself.
Instead of one photo in a picture frame, create a collage with photos from the past year and write down your favorite memories of spending time with her or use wrapped canvas for a new look. Have a night at home and cook her a delicious homemade meal for the night or even treat her the whole day with her favorite foods.
Present the Gift in a Creative Way
Instead of just giving her the anniversary present, be creative and present it in a different way to make your day extra special. Give her clues throughout the day that lead up to the gift to keep her guessing what exactly you got for her. Use riddles that take her to a special place such as where you two first met or one of your favorite spots.
There are many ideas to choose from than just candy and flowers. Take time to find the perfect unique gift for her and even if you personally don’t think it is that unique or perfect, she will love it anyways because it is from you and that is all that matters.
